Why is post-construction cleaning a different job from a normal clean?
Construction dust is fine, it is everywhere, and it settles again for days after it is disturbed. A post-construction clean is done in stages: a rough clean to remove debris and the bulk of the dust, then a detailed clean of every surface, then a final pass once the dust has settled. Windows, fixtures, inside cabinets and the HVAC registers all need it. One pass leaves a film on everything within a day.
When should the post-construction clean be scheduled?
After the last trade has left and before the furniture comes in — and for a large project, in more than one visit. The final pass is timed a day or two after the detailed clean so the dust that settled overnight is caught. Booking it before the punch list is done means cleaning twice.
